Sylvia Dubois was born a slave on Sourland Mountain, NJ, in the late 1700s. She lived to be over 100 years old and was happy to tell you about it. Sylvia’s Moxie takes you on her bare-knuckled, no-nonsense journey from a powerless slave to a formidable free woman. In Sylvia’s words, “I was able to turn just about every negative into an advantage”.

In September 1780, Jane Tuers crossed the Hudson River to sell eggs and vegetables in British occupied New York. She returned with something far more dangerous: a warning about Benedict Arnold’s plot to surrender West Point.
As Jane decides whether to carry the news to her brother, a curious young neighbor dreams of heroism and the girl’s mother fears what speaking up could cost them all. Petticoat Patriots explores the courage of ordinary women whose choices helped shape the American Revolution.
