We offer a wide array of theatre classes for all ages.

In the summer, Speranza hosts several week-long summer camp experiences, where students write, produce, and perform their own plays.

Elements of Theatre:

How Does The Show Go On? (Grades K-2)

How does a play become a production that is ready to share with audiences?  In this unique class, young artists of all kinds unleash their inner leaders and learn the basic elements of production.

Acting Scene Study  (Grades 3-5)

Young actors will develop a set of acting tools through improvisation exercises and scene work. Build a backstory, create a character, and test performance skills in a safe environment. This program helps young artists develop skills that will last a lifetime.

Playwriting Class (Grades 5-8)

Have you ever wanted to write a play? Not sure where to start, or better yet, how to finish? Learn the basics of playwriting including character development, plot, dialogue, and everything in between in a safe and creative space. Watch your words come to life each week as we work towards a 10-minute play.

Acting & Scene Study (Grades 9-12)

This class will focus on techniques for acting, including vocal work, physical work, and character development. Students can expect to work on monologues and explore scripts using tools used by professionals.

Storybook to Stage (ages 3-5)

Children will bring stories to life! Each week we focus on a new book and create a corresponding craft to use as a prop. At the end of the class, children will be on their feet performing the story with their brand-new prop!

Production Class (Grades 5-8)

Students will write, rehearse and perform a show they create. This program helps young artists develop skills that will last a lifetime and explore the art of collaboration through classes in acting, playwriting, improvisation, stagecraft, and production. Life skills such as public speaking confidence and working as a team are woven into each activity. Students will be responsible for all aspects of the production process including sets, costumes, lighting, sound, and prop design. Students will be expected to see the project through from beginning to end as one of the goals of the program.
